About me

Firstly, I just wanted to say a big thank you for visiting my blog.

I started this blog because I've always been a great deal hunter, and I ended up in a situation where becoming money and deal savvy was not just fun, but a necessity.

I want to share what I find, to help others.

A little background ... My name is Steph, I'm a single mum living in the South East of the UK.

I was married (I thought happily).

We had been together for 15 years.

After successfully trying for a baby, 4 days after my first scan, my husband told me that he didn't love me as his wife anymore, and was "in love with" and "couldn't live without" some woman he worked with (who was going through a divorce with 2 children).

I didn't see it coming... no-one did. I'd never even heard of her before.

We were living in a house that his parents owned, and for reasons I won't go into, I moved out.

I had credit card debt, loans, and an overdraft I could never seem to get out of, even with a good full-time job.

I had always wanted to buy somewhere, but my husband was never bothered enough.

I guess I just gave up with money, not having a "purpose" to save up? I don't know, it was a flaw of mine. I became complacent with money.

Well, now I was on my own. Pregnant and completely devastated.

Did I give up? No.

I started number crunching.

Working out every single way I could make money, save money, and pay off the debt I had before my baby arrived.

Which I did!

Then, when I gave birth to my beautiful baby, and ended up on statuatory maternity pay - and soon to be no pay, I wanted to make sure that I could provide the best for my baby and our future.

So, whether you're in a similar situation, you're soon to be or are a new parent, or you just want to find the best deals right now, welcome home!
