Parenting is an expensive business, and feels twice as expensive when on maternity leave!

Making your money stretch is a challenge, but here are a few ways to make the most of what some companies offer "soon to be", and new parents.

Emma's Diary is an app that gives you a ton of great useful information about your pregnancy, postpartum and baby! You can also collect up to three packs of samples and money off vouchers by getting a coupon in the app and taking it in to be scanned at Boots.

The packs change throughout the year but I got some great items including:

Pampers nappies

Sudocreme money off vouchers

Pampers money off vouchers

Vitamin D drops for baby

Nipple cream sample

Weleda moisturiser sample

Lanisoh breast pads

The Boots Advantage card is a great way to get rewarded for shopping in Boots, and collecting points can be redeemed against new purchases. When you or your partner become pregnant, you can then sign up to the "Parenting Club" via your Boots app.

You will then earn 8 points per £1 on baby items and be able to claim Free items too!

When I was pregnant, I received all kinds of freebies such as:

Tommee Tippee bottle and soother (worth £14.99!)

Mam bottle and soother

A box of breast pads

Weleda calendula nappy cream

Folic acid vitamins

Right now, Boots are celebrating 20 years of Parenting Club so look out for extra special offers! If you join now you can also get a free Aveeno bubble bath or hair & body wash.

Since giving birth I have also received:

A weaning book

A box of breast pads

A pack of Pampers nappies

Head on over to the parenting club cardboard stands to grab your freebies, and take them to the till to checkout for free by scanning your Boots Advantage card, simple.

You also get access to exclusive discounts, competitions, and point boosters on baby items in the app! Sign up here

Not specifically designed for parents, but a great scheme for those of us with an abundance of nappy packs, wet wipe packs, used teats, used dummies ... the list goes on, right?!

Download the Recycle with Boots app, connect it to your Boots card and you can earn 500 points for every 5 recycle items you take into store when you spend £10.

I've met a LOT of people that don't know about this scheme but could really benefit from it (and now are!), so I'll do a whole post about it and link it here as soon as it's done.

Marks and Spencer's Sparks app has a reasonably new club called "The Parent Hood". You can join while pregnant and up to your child is two.

Every Tuesday morning, between 9:30 - 11:30am, you get to enjoy a free slice of cake, pastry or a fruit pot, every week when you buy a hot drink.

You also get exclusive offers and freebies in the app, such as 10% off babygrows until your child turns 2, and I have also received a free box of chocolate biscuits and a cake (to feed 6!) already.

If you don't have a Sparks membership, sign up here

If you have an Amazon account (I mean, most people do, right?), you can create a baby wishlist for your upcoming or new baby. Once you've created your baby wishlist, simply purchase items directly from the wishlist to receive an extra 15% off certain items, which lasts for up to 90 days after your expected arrival date.

You'll also be able to add a free gift from a selection of items when you spend £20 on items from your baby wishlist (easily done). I chose the Child's Farm wash set (body wash, bubble bath and moisturiser) as my free gift and it's been great for us.

I also managed to save a LOT of money by using the 15% off additional discount.

You may not want to buy Pampers nappies, and that's totally fine, but if you DO, it's good to know that Pampers have a loyalty points scheme.

Each pack of Pampers nappies have a code inside them allowing you to redeem points in the Pampers app which you can use towards money off vouchers on Pampers products. They're not the best points scheme, it takes a while to get good discounts, but it's worth doing if you're buying them anyway!

An exclusive club for parents with a child under 5 years old with exclusive discounts on favourite items, discover new items and tips for parents.
